SGMRG is making its database of named miners available for people researching this topic. The database covers aspects of the careers and events of miners in South Gloucestershire and Bristol. It is an Excel spreadsheet contained within a ZIP file, which can be downloaded (see below). Alternatively, you can directly search the database by clicking this link: Search.
Most entries relate to coal mining, although other mining activities are included, e.g. iron mines. There are also references to people associated with mines, such as landowners. Each entry contains summary information about the person and where the source information was obtained. The source can be helpful to conduct further research.
The database is updated periodically as new information becomes available. The date on the file shows when the last update occurred. To download the database, click on the Miners Database link below.
